Vice President of Accounting
About the Role
The Vice President of Accounting oversees the operations and management of the Accounting Department, ensuring general ledger integrity, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, and related accounting functions comply with regulatory and industry standards. This position requires a detail-oriented, composed individual who maintains confidentiality and collaborates effectively across teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the Accounting Department.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, Federal Reserve account, and other correspondent bank accounts.
- Manage Holding Company Financials and Fixed Assets.
- Balance the Bond Portfolio and enter security transactions.
- Prepare the Quarterly Call Report and lead coordination of Internal Audits.
- Handle garnishments, tax levies, DHS levies, and backup withholding.
- Close out Month-End and Year-End Financials.
- Prepare Monthly Board reports and Quarterly Asset Liability reports.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
- Proven ability to develop sound policies, practices, and procedures, improving operating controls, productivity, and efficiency.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Exceptional skills in creating reports and recommendations for the Board of Directors and/or Audit Committee.
- Demonstrated ability to work with detail while meeting daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience with accounting software programs.
- Analytical and independent judgment for process improvements and problem resolution.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Physical Demands
The role requires sitting, talking, hearing, and verbal communication with coworkers and customers. The employee must use hands for computer input, kneel or crouch for filing, and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting or moving of up to 30 pounds may be required. Specific vision abilities include close vision.
