About the Role
The Vice President of Accounting is responsible for leading the accounting and legal departments, ensuring accurate financial reporting, establishing policies, and safeguarding company assets. This role partners closely with the CFO and executive leadership team to drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial strategy across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team, including direct oversight of the Controller and Contract Manager
- Build a high-performance, accountable, and team-oriented culture
- Provide training and professional development opportunities
- Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and reporting standards
- Present monthly financial packets and insights to leadership
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Cash Management
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and manage the annual budget
- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and cash flow management
- Perform budget reviews and variance analysis
- Operational Excellence & Strategy
- Identify and implement automation and process improvements for efficiency and cost savings
- Oversee accounting and legal operations to ensure alignment with company goals
- Develop, communicate, and enforce accounting and related company policies
- Vendor & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as liaison with key partners including banking, insurance, accounting, and legal services
- Maintain strong external relationships that support company operations
- Additional Responsibilities
- Payroll review and tax filings
- Support other financial and operational initiatives as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 10+ years of leadership experience managing multiple teams
- Strong financial acumen and advanced ERP and Excel skills
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to lead, problem-solve, and drive accountability
- High level of ownership, attention to detail, and follow-through
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA, CMA, or CFP certification
