About the Role

The site Vice President of Human Resources is responsible for directing all people functions at Community Medical Center in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of RWJBarnabas Health. This role ensures strategic human resources planning attracts and retains top talent, positioning the organization as an employer of choice. The Vice President sets the tone for the employee experience, serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and an advocate for all team members to drive performance excellence in human capital.

The Vice President is a key member of the local site’s executive team, collaborating with other executives, directors, and staff to prioritize business goals, boost employee retention, and ensure effective organizational design. This role reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at RWJBarnabas Health, with a matrixed reporting relationship to the President and CEO of Community Medical Center.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, directs, and evaluates the site’s human resources function and performance.
  • Participates in the development of organizational plans and programs as a strategic partner, focusing on the impact on people.
  • Translates enterprise-driven strategic initiatives into local tactical operations to ensure alignment with regional sites and service lines.
  • Works with HR Centers of Expertise to develop staffing strategies, succession plans, and coordinate programs to identify diverse talent within and outside the organization.
  • Partners with senior HR leadership to develop progressive programs promoting employee motivation, engagement, and performance through incentives and rewards.
  • Aligns with HR and operational strategies to implement local programs consistent with site culture, fostering an inclusive environment for applicants and employees of all backgrounds.
  • Implements workforce planning models to identify competency, knowledge, and talent gaps, and develops programs to address them (e.g., succession planning, training, and development).
  • Serves as a trusted resource, effective listener, and problem solver for people-related issues across the organization.
  • Drives understanding and adherence to system policies and programs for effective management of human resources, including escalation and collaboration with HR Centers of Expertise.
  • Implements and monitors HR policies and procedures to improve organizational effectiveness.
  • Advises on employee relations and supports people decisions throughout the site.
  • Ensures compliance with regional budget and fiscal responsibility in alignment with system and HR budgets.
  • Provides critical feedback to senior HR leadership to ensure continuous performance and process improvement.
  • Evaluates and manages the site HR team to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and professional growth opportunities.
  • Ensures site compliance with all applicable policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Promotes consistent, transparent, and frequent communication with the workforce, participating in leadership rounding to foster an inclusive and engaging culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in business or human resources management (required).
  • Master’s Degree (preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of HR experience, with at least 3 years of HR management experience leading a team or equivalent comprehensive experience in healthcare.
  • Acute experience in a hospital or healthcare setting (greatly preferred).
  • Proven time management and decision-making skills while handling competing priorities.
  • Demonstrated success as a key influencer of human capital decisions in a fast-paced, matrixed reporting environment.
  • Strong leadership, people, and change management experience.
  • Excellent planning, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of fostering a culture of accountability and a positive employee experience.

Pay

Anticipated annual salary range: $220,000.00 - $320,000.00 per year. The compensation offered will depend on factors such as educational background, skills, and professional experience.
