Vice President for Institutional Advancement
About the role
The Vice President for Institutional Advancement (VPIA) is a key member of the President’s Executive Leadership Team at Meredith College. Reporting to the President, the VPIA will lead a comprehensive advancement program in support of the College’s mission and strategic direction.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for all advancement efforts, including major and planned giving, alumni relations, annual giving, and advancement services.
- Partner closely with institutional leadership and the Board of Trustees to increase philanthropic support, expand donor engagement, and strengthen the College’s culture of giving.
- Lead a highly anticipated comprehensive capital campaign, grow and diversify the major gift pipeline, and build corporate and foundation partnerships while sustaining Meredith’s strong tradition of alumnae philanthropy.
- Foster meaningful, lifelong engagement with alumnae and ensure that advancement strategies align with institutional priorities and the College’s mission as a women’s institution.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, communicate a compelling case for support, and inspire confidence among internal and external stakeholders.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans and manage complex projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse constituencies.
- Experience leading a comprehensive capital campaign and managing a large staff.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of best practices in higher education fundraising and alumni relations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public administration, business administration, or higher education).
- Proven track record of success in fundraising and alumni relations roles.
- Experience working in a women’s institution or with a diverse student body.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000, commensurate with experience.
Schedule
The VPIA will work a standard Monday through Friday schedule, typically 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
