About the role

The VP Associate CHRO reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer and functions as a strategic business advisor to the executive/senior management across the company and its affiliates. This role involves leading the human resources generalist team's efforts in recruiting, training and development, employee relations, labor relations and engagement and retention.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key member of the Corporate Human Resources Team in overseeing, developing, implementing and administering the full employee life cycle: recruiting, hiring, orientation, training, performance management and employee relations, labor relations and employee engagement
  • Supervise and provide guidance to the human resources management team in providing support to the entire organization
  • Develop strong professional relationships with company leadership through a collaborative consultative role
  • Provide strategic organizational development including completion of annual department goals, workforce planning and employee engagement and retention strategies
  • Ensure all policies and practices are applied fairly and consistently across the organization to all employees including reviewing and implementing company standards, policies and procedures and ensure they are appropriately developed and communicated
  • Oversee employee and labor relations and investigations: Manage senior level situations, Provides impartial treatment to all employees through proper employment practices and policies throughout the organization, Protects the owners from any employment litigation
  • Oversee proper facilitation of compensation program to attract and retain talent
  • Support the CHRO's role as a member of the 401(k) committee
  • Actively contribute and participate in all human resources activities including company events, engagement initiatives and employee training
  • Maintain a professional and ethical image for all employees across the organization
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Candidates should be human resources professionals with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive human resources management experience and at least seven years of supervisory experience.
  • Previous experience in a corporate and multi-unit property management environment is highly desirable.
  • Qualified candidates must possess these requirements and characteristics:
    • Excellent people skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong, professional relationships in a positive, influential manner
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge in all human resources areas including benefits and compensation
    • Excellent working knowledge of all employment and labor laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, Title VII, etc.)
    • Ability to be adaptive and drive positive change
    • Focused, goal-oriented, "do it now" attitude with strong follow up
    • Demonstrated leadership skills
    • Proficiency in HRIS applications and Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications (continued)

  • Required Education / Certifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Psychology or Business
    • Human Resources Certification (SPHR and/or SHRM-SCP) preferred
    • Employment Law Certification preferred
