Primary Responsibility

Under the direct supervision of CMC’s President & CEO and in close coordination with the college’s President, the Vice President and Campus Dean of the Aspen and Carbondale campuses provides executive level vision, innovation, and overall leadership to campuses to ensure the success of students, employees and the communities served by the campuses under her/his/their leadership. This position oversees two non-residential campuses with strong enrollments in first responder programs, concurrent enrollment programs, English as a Second Language, and fine arts. The campuses also maintain robust enrollments in non-credit/community education programs. The position also oversees a community collaboration site in Basalt and off-campus instruction in various locations across the Roaring Fork Valley.

About the Role

COLORADO MOUNTAIN COLLEGE is a dual mission, open access institution with nine bachelor’s programs in addition to traditional community college programs—adult basic education, certificates, and associates degrees. CMC maintains multiple campuses over a broad geographic area. The college proudly identifies as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and is a political subdivision governed by a nonpartisan elected board of trustees. The college is public and receives the majority of its funding from local property tax revenues.

  • Direct experience leading an academic unit in a multi-campus (system) environment
  • An understanding of applied and community education programming
  • Successful experience working with K-12, business, local government, and/or non-profit partners

Special Skills or Abilities

  • Knowledge of current principles, practices, and trends in leadership, organizational development, and management
  • Higher education budgeting and fiscal oversight
  • State and federal laws, codes and regulations covering higher educational institutions
  • Trends and developments in technology which have campus and/or district-wide implications
