General Job Description
The Vice President/Dean of Academic Affairs provides leadership and supervision for all instructional services staff and programs.
Scope
The Vice President/Dean of Academic Affairs provides overall direction for planning, implementation, and evaluation of the instructional program of the College and serves as Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO), and in that capacity, provides for institutional planning, institutional assessment, and faculty management, and curriculum development while ensuring accreditation compliance and honoring indigenous, cultural, and community mission goals.
Job Characteristics
Personal Contacts: Human relationships are critical to the position in dealing with faculty, grant program directors, peers, students, and external public on a person-to-person basis. The Vice-President works in daily collaboration with CDKC's Administration and staff, faculty, students, community constituents, and state and national level program officials.
Supervision Received: The VPAA receives general guidance from the President. Meets regularly with leadership team to discuss pertinent issues and concerns.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is provided to academic faculty, HiSet Coordinator, Maintenance Director, Financial Aid staff
AREAS OF JOB ACCOUNTABILITY AND PERFORMANCE
Specific Responsibilities
Developing annual plan of instruction, semester course schedules and academic Planning and preparing the College catalog for Interpretation and administration of academic rules and Submitting all required reports
Attend meetings as required, such as staff, faculty, and Board of Trustees meetings
Serves as coordinator and/or supervisor of other instructional/academic
Oversees Maintenance Director and College
Core Responsibilities
Academic Leadership & Strategy: Develops and evaluates academic programs, policies, and instructional methods, ensuring they align with the college's mission, tribal needs, and higher education standards.
Accreditation & Compliance: Leads NWCCU accreditation processes and ensures compliance with state, federal, and tribal regulations.
Faculty & Staff Management: Oversees recruitment, evaluation, and professional development of full-time and adjunct faculty and overall accountability of the instructional program.
Curriculum & Assessment: Chairs curriculum committees, manages academic standards, and oversees student learning assessment to ensure educational quality.
Budgeting & Operations: Develops and implements the academic budget, including grant-funded initiatives and equipment.
Student Success: Collaborates with student services to improve retention, graduation rates, and overall student experience.
Qualifications
Education: Masters Degree in academic discipline required (PhD preferred)
Experience: 10 years classroom experience at the college level (TCU preferred), service as a department chair desired. Familiarity with online delivery systems, accreditation, grant management, program design, and personnel management.
Salary and Benefits
Exempt position. Salary negotiable depending on education and experience/fringe benefits/Twelve Month Position.
