About the role

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree and be board certified in Gastroenterology.

As Vice Chief of Clinical Affairs in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the selected candidate will oversee the clinical programs in gastroenterology, hepatology, and endoscopy across three hospitals, each with ambulatory clinics, an ambulatory endoscopy unit, and a large outpatient center with clinic space and an endoscopy unit.

Responsibilities

• Teach Penn medical students, residents, and fellows (100 credits per year of active and high-quality teaching required for the academic clinician track).
• Provide clinical care in outpatient and inpatient settings at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP), Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC), Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH), and/or Penn Medicine at Radnor (PMR), specializing in one or more of the following: inflammatory bowel disease, neurogastroenterology, esophagology, hepatology, advanced endoscopy, and/or general gastroenterology.
• Perform endoscopy procedures and see patients in clinic.
• Oversee and develop clinical programs, building on the Division’s foundation of over 44,000 outpatient clinic visits and 34,000 endoscopic procedures annually.
• Provide management and/or leadership for the Division’s clinical practice.

Qualifications

• M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
• Board certification in Gastroenterology.
