Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and commission low voltage (under 600V) VFDs for pumps, blowers, and other motor-driven equipment
- Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on VFDs, motors, and control circuits
- Maintain and repair electrical systems (low and medium voltage) in treatment plants and lift stations
- Program and adjust VFD parameters for optimal system performance and energy efficiency
- Integrate VFDs with PLC and SCADA systems
- Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical and control equipment
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and minimize downtime
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
- Document maintenance activities, system changes, and service reports
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (Associate degree or technical certification preferred)
- 2–5+ years of experience with VFDs in industrial, municipal, or water/wastewater environments
- Strong understanding of: AC/DC motors, Electrical systems and controls, Industrial automation
- Experience with major VFD brands (e.g., ABB, Allen-Bradley, Siemens)
- Ability to read electrical diagrams and troubleshoot complex systems
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in water or wastewater treatment facilities
- Familiarity with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc)
- Knowledge of SCADA systems
- Electrical license or Journeyman certification
- OSHA safety training
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Ability to work well with others
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Ability to perform heavy lifting/pushing/pulling of material weighing 50 pounds
- Ability to squat, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Minimum age 18+
