Veterinary Technician Surgery
Pieper Veterinary is looking for experienced Veterinary Technicians passionate about anesthesia and advanced surgical care to join our Surgery Department at Pieper Memorial Veterinary Center in Middletown, CT. Our vision is to make the community, animals, and people in it happier and healthier.
About the role
We strongly believe veterinary medicine is a team sport. The ideal candidate is comfortable with anesthesia, drug calculations, protocols, and excels at anesthetic monitoring. Previous experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, and restraint is crucial. Experience with CPR, EzyVet, and Smartflow is a plus. A VTS (Anesthesia and Analgesia) is highly desirable and would receive additional compensation.
Responsibilities
- Administer and monitor common induction agents, anesthetic agents, and analgesia agents
- Calculate CRIs and perform other medical math
- Operate ventilators
- Provide specialty anesthesia, especially for emergent procedures
- Read ECG and capnograph, and respond appropriately
- Determine when to use a non-rebreather circuit
- React to blood pressure readings and implement corrective actions
- Manage time effectively to maintain surgical table times
Requirements

Pay
$24.00–$30.00/hour, dependent upon experience
Schedule
Full-time: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday – 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Holidays are required.
