Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine
Job Summary
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, MN is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department.
About the Role
You are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in-person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x-rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.
Responsibilities
- Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
- Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia.
- Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
- Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway).
- Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.
- Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
- Additional job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.
- Experience with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures.
- Knowledgeable about internal medicine practices.
- Ability to perform calculations and medical tasks accurately.
- Excellent communication and client interaction skills.
