Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine
About the role
BluePearl Pet Hospital in East Dallas, TX is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department. As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician, you are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors.
Responsibilities
You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.
- Set up constant rate infusions (CRI)
- Calculate all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.)
- Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia
- Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures
- Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway)
- Clean and maintain equipment following procedure
- Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations
- Additional job duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.
