Veterinary Technician I - Overnight Bottle Baby ICU

Arizona Humane Society is seeking a dedicated full-time Bottle Baby ICU Technician to provide overnight care for neonatal kittens at our state-of-the-art Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus.

Schedule

• Thursday – Sunday, 8:30 PM – 7:00 AM (four 10-hour shifts with three consecutive days off each week)

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight care and treatment for neonatal kittens, including bottle feeding and tracking feeding/care activities
• Ensure kittens are kept warm and thriving
• Guide and lead volunteers assisting in neonatal kitten care
• Care for other shelter animals during off-seasons or slower intake periods
• Answer emergency phone calls from fosters and provide assistance
• Follow departmental procedures for euthanasia, including administration of drugs
• Accurately enter information into Chameleon software and other Windows-based programs

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of a Veterinary Technician program OR minimum 6 months experience in a veterinary hospital
• Experience feeding kittens and puppies
• Demonstrated safe and humane handling of kittens
• Self-starter able to work effectively without direct supervision
• Strong communication skills for interacting with volunteers, hospital staff, and shelter personnel
• Proficiency with Windows computer systems and ability to learn shelter software (e.g., Chameleon)

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, sitting, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
• Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds
• Exposure to dust, heat, cold, temperature changes, wet floors, animal noises, odors, and dander
• Most work performed in a climate-controlled office environment

Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening to comply with DEA requirements for dispensing controlled drugs.
