About the role

We're looking for an experienced or licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. This is a full-time position with a four-day workweek and rotating Saturdays. Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Obtain thorough patient histories, vital signs, and patient assessments
  • Safely handle and restrain patients using compassionate, Fear Free® and low-stress techniques
  • Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples
  • Place IV catheters and assist with fluid therapy
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Perform and assist with in-house laboratory testing
  • Obtain quality radiographs and assist with diagnostic imaging
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, recovery, and postoperative patient care
  • Monitor hospitalized and recovering patients and communicate changes in condition to the medical team
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records and treatment documentation
  • Educate clients about medications, treatments, preventive care, and discharge instructions
  • Anticipate the needs of veterinarians and teammates to help maintain an efficient daily workflow
  • Keep treatment areas, exam rooms, and equipment clean, organized, stocked, and ready for patients
  • Follow hospital safety, sanitation, and infection-control protocols
  • Share your knowledge, skills, and experience with teammates
  • Jump in wherever needed to support patients, clients, and coworkers

Requirements

  • Previous Veterinary Technician experience
  • Veterinary Technician licensure is welcomed
  • Strong patient care, handling, and restraint skills
  • A commitment to Fear Free® and low-stress handling techniques
  • Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and diagnostic sample collection
  • Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, surgical support, and patient recovery
  • Comfort with radiography, laboratory testing, and diagnostic procedures
  • Strong client communication and education skills
  • Accurate and thorough medical documentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • The ability to stay calm and adapt in a busy veterinary environment
  • Compassion and empathy for patients, clients, teammates, and yourself
  • A positive, dependable, and professional approach
