Veterinary Practice Manager

About the role

Laguna Beach Animal Hospital, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, is seeking a Practice Manager to join their team. Located in Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, and Aliso Viejo, this position is full-time and on-site.

Responsibilities

• Ensures a positive culture built on shared values and direct communication
• Creates operational efficiencies
• Solves problems to improve client service and employee engagement
• Exercises sound judgment and makes decisions
• Oversees business activities including hiring and training staff
• Works with Pathway finance to prepare and manage budgets
• Maintains key performance indicators, sets fees, manages inventory, implements safety and security procedures, and manages hospital software

Requirements

• Analyzes various sources of data to establish priorities and initiate operational programs
• Displays sound personal judgment in decision-making
• Manages, coaches, and leads staff at all levels
• Holds regular staff meetings, including mandatory training on standards of service and care
• Promotes a cooperative working environment and understands the value of teamwork
• Is willing to perform additional tasks to support the hospital's operations
• Promotes continuous quality improvement to ensure the practice's success and achieve its vision

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance and more than 40 pounds with assistance
• Availability to work uncommon hours and overtime, and to be subject to recall for business emergencies

Skills

• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• A commitment to outstanding client service
• Demonstrated competence in budgeting and financial reporting, including reading and analyzing a P&L statement
• Strong math and Excel/spreadsheet skills
• Certified Veterinary Practice Manager designation or equivalent work experience preferred
• Three years of supervisory experience
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
• Preferred: three years or more of managing a veterinary practice
