Veterinary Extern - General Practice

About the role

Henniker Veterinary Hospital is a progressive, 7 doctor, mixed animal practice seeking a full or part time associate veterinarian.

Responsibilities

• Offer comprehensive services ranging from preventatives and vaccinations to emergency and specialty care to a variety of species including dogs, cats, horses, sheep and goats.
• Work in a well-equipped office with modern amenities located in a quaint New England town in central New Hampshire, just an hour from the seacoast, Boston and Maine.
• Gain hands-on clinical experience under the supervision of experienced Associate Veterinarians.
• Practice clinical skills such as gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and managing medical cases.
• Develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Requirements

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will provide students with the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Students must be enrolled in a veterinary school and in the clinical portion of their education.
• Preference given to students who are actively participating in externship programs.
• Eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.

Skills

Students will develop skills in:

• Observing and assisting in surgical procedures.
• Managing medical cases.
• Communicating with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
