About the role
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the supervising veterinarian
- Gather patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Diagnose and perform diagnostics
- Provide dental services
- Assist or perform surgical procedures
- Manage medical care for patients
- Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Requirements
- Students in their final clinical year rotations
- Veterinary students only
- Travel/living expense stipend available
Qualifications
- Strong academic performance
- Passing grades in relevant coursework
- Good communication skills
- Interest in veterinary medicine
