About the role
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the supervising Associate Veterinarians
- Gather patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Perform diagnostics
- Provide dental services
- Assist or perform surgical procedures
- Manage medical care for patients
- Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled veterinary students
- Open to students of all class years
- Eligible for a travel/living expense stipend if in the clinical portion of their education

Schedule
Most externship experiences at Larkin Veterinary Center range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
Stipend
