Veterinary Extern - General Practice
About the role
An externship experience at Faulkville Animal Hospital will give students the opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in various aspects of veterinary practice.
Responsibilities
- Gather patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Diagnose and manage conditions
- Assist with or perform surgical procedures
- Communicate with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Requirements
Students must be enrolled in a veterinary school and in the clinical portion of their education. They should be prepared to commit to a minimum of two weeks but up to eight weeks depending on schedules.
Qualifications
Preference is given to DVM students, regardless of class year. A travel/living expense stipend is available for DVM students upon request.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a passion for animal care are essential.
