Responsibilities
- Gain experience in gathering patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Diagnose and perform diagnostics
- Provide dental services
- Assist or perform surgical procedures
- Manage medical care for patients
- Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Qualifications
Students must be enrolled in a veterinary school and have completed at least 3 years of veterinary education. They should be able to demonstrate proficiency in veterinary medicine and possess strong interpersonal skills.
Benefits
Externships typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. Students may receive a travel/living expense stipend, which varies based on the length of the externship.
