Veterinary Extern - General Practice
About the role
We are a small team of experienced people who love what we do. Our 4 technicians have a combined 60 years of experience in the field!
Responsibilities
- Gain knowledge in a variety of emergencies
- Gain experience with exotics like reptiles, birds, and small animals
- Practice clinical skills including gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients
- Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Qualifications
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in various aspects of veterinary care.

Pay
Travel/living expense stipends are available for veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education.
Schedule
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
