Veterinary Extern - General Practice

About the role

We are a fun-loving, energetic family of 7 veterinarians and support staff. We have a very wide client demographic that permits both gold-standard care and creative veterinary medicine!

Responsibilities

• Gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients.
• Practice clinical skills under supervision of Associate Veterinarians.
• Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Qualifications

• Students must be enrolled in a veterinary school.
• Students must be in the clinical portion of their education.
• Students must be able to commit to a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of eight weeks.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Attention to detail.

Pay

Travel/living expense stipends are available for veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education.

Schedule

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules.
