Veterinary Extern - General Practice
About the role
We are a full-service small animal practice offering opportunities for learning with multiple associate veterinarians. Students will assist in various procedures including surgery, dentals, hospitalized patients, echos, ultrasounds, routine exams, and emergencies under the supervision of a veterinarian.
Responsibilities
- Gain experience in gathering patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Diagnose and manage patients
- Assist or perform surgical procedures
- Support dental services
- Communicate with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Requirements
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount varies based on the duration of the externship and is available for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
Qualifications
Students must be enrolled in a veterinary school and have completed the required coursework.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a passion for veterinary medicine.
