Veterinary Extern - General Practice
About the role
An externship experience at Bramer Animal Hospital will provide students with hands-on clinical experience, working closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in various aspects of veterinary practice.
Responsibilities
- Gain experience in gathering patient histories
- Perform physical exams
- Create treatment plans
- Diagnose and manage conditions
- Assist with or perform dental services
- Support surgical procedures under supervision
- Communicate effectively with the medical team, support staff, and clients
Requirements
Eligible for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. Must be in the clinical portion of their education.
Qualifications
Students must have completed prerequisite coursework and be enrolled in a veterinary school accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a passion for animal care.

Most externship experiences at Bramer Animal Hospital range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
