About the role

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them. We strive to provide students with an extensive array of learning opportunities at Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Gain hands-on clinical experience
  • Understand day-to-day operations of the practice
  • Participate in surgical experiences with multiple doctors
  • Attend routine wellness appointments and urgent sick visits
  • Learn best practices in all aspects of care
  • Create a unique schedule that may include evening and weekend hours

Requirements

Veterinary students (regardless of class year) are encouraged to participate in NVA externships. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for Brighton-Eggert Animal Clinic is $1,500.
