About the role
Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in various aspects of veterinary care including:
- Gathering patient histories
- Performing physical exams
- Creating treatment plans
- Diagnostics
- Dentistry services
- Observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures
- Medical management of patients
Responsibilities
Students will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Qualifications
Eligible for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education.
Benefits
Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend of $1,000.
Pay
$1,000 stipend for externships.
Schedule
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
