About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team at Pieper Veterinary at our Marlborough and East Haddam, CT locations. Our vision is to make the community and the animals and people in it happier and healthier.
Responsibilities
- Handle/restrain animals and perform basic animal care tasks
- Assist Veterinary Technicians in a clinical setting
- Communicate effectively with clients and team members
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members
- Multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- Work well under pressure and in stressful situations
- Take direction and adapt to new tasks and procedures
- Follow instructions and maintain a high standard of care
- Continue learning and staying updated on veterinary practices
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a veterinary setting
- Experience in handling animals and performing basic animal care tasks
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multi-task and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
- Compassion and patience when handling animals
- Basic knowledge of animal behavior and medical terminology
- Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations
- Willingness to work rotating Saturdays
- Must be 18 years or older to apply

Pay
$17.25 an hour
Schedule
This is a full-time position: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday - 8:30am-6pm Rotating Saturday is required.
