Veterinary Assistant - Primary Care
About the Role
As a Veterinary Assistant, you'll play an essential role in supporting our veterinarians and RVTs while ensuring every patient receives outstanding care.
Responsibilities
- Preparing exam rooms and obtaining patient histories
- Providing compassionate patient care and nursing support
- Administering vaccines
- Assisting with treatments, diagnostics and anaesthesia
- Supporting surgical procedures
- Performing blood draws and running laboratory samples
- Maintaining accurate medical records
- Assisting with client communication and education
- Supporting reception duties when required, including scheduling appointments, answering phones and checking clients in and out
- Helping maintain a clean, organised and efficient hospital
Requirements
- Minimum 1–2 years' Veterinary Assistant experience
- Strong phlebotomy skills
- Experience placing IV catheters
- Experience running in-house laboratory diagnostics
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Compassionate approach to patient care
- Positive attitude and collaborative team spirit
- Ability to thrive in a busy hospital environment

Schedule
- Full-time position
- Four 10-hour shifts
- Monday–Saturday availability required
- Shift start times may vary
Pay
$23–$27 per hour
Shift differential available for applicable shifts
