Veterinary Assistant - Locum

About the role

VCA Cottonwood Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team. Competitive Pay and Benefits (We will help cover the costs associated with VTNE preparation and reimburse the registration fee for the VTNE).

Responsibilities

• Win the confidence of every pet parent—by delivering an outstanding client experience—so they will partner with us for the lifelong care of their companion animals.
• Utilize expertise and technical know-how in venipuncture, catheter placement, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, physical examinations and patient assessment, surgical preparation and assisting, dentistry, laboratory work, pharmacy, patient recovery, and compassionate care for our hospitalized patients.
• Support the mission of the VCA team by being a believer in the possibilities of high quality veterinary medicine and patient care.
• Participate in continuing education and personal career development opportunities provided by VCA.

Requirements

• Experience in veterinary assisting, preferably in a hospital setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic knowledge of veterinary medical terminology.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• VTNE certification preferred.

Skills

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of animal anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to handle stressful situations calmly and professionally.
