ER Veterinary Technician/Assistant (Locum)

About the role

The Role: As a Credentialed Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant with 3+ years Emergency experience, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality patient care. You’ll work closely with our veterinarians to support a variety of medical procedures while helping guide clients through their pet’s care with confidence and compassion.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional nursing care to emergency patients.
• Collaborate closely with ER Doctors and fellow technicians.
• Perform triage assessments and assist with patient stabilization.
• Utilize advanced technical skills including venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion support.
• Monitor hospitalized and ICU patients, recognizing subtle changes in patient status and communicating findings to the medical team.
• Assist with emergency procedures and advanced treatments.
• Educate clients and provide clear discharge instructions.
• Create a positive, collaborative environment focused on outstanding patient care.

Requirements

• Current CVC certification or eligible for CVC certification.
• 3+ years of Emergency experience.
• Experience with advanced technical skills such as venipuncture, IV catheter placement, diagnostic imaging, laboratory diagnostics, oxygen therapy, and blood transfusion support.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology or related field preferred.
