Responsibilities
- Instruction of veterinary students in various aspects of equine patient exam, catheter placement, nasogastric intubation, and general horse handling.
- Aid clinicians, students, and residents with admission, patient restraint, and diagnostic procedures of equine cases admitted to the equine hospital.
- Provide direct patient care, including physical exams, medication administration, catheter placement, nasogastric intubation, obtaining blood, fecal and urine samples, and fluid therapy.
- Maintain floor stock and biosecurity of the hospital ICU, inpatient and outpatient barns, Isolation, main treatment areas, and procedural areas.
Qualifications
- Depending on the combination of education and experience, the selected finalist will be hired as a Veterinary Assistant and assigned levels II or III.
- Level II: High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of professional experience in the care and comfort of animals.
- Level III: High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of professional experience in the care and comfort of animals.
- Experience must include at least 2 years at the preceding level or equivalent.

- This position rotates every 2 months: Weekdays: Monday – Thursday 9:00am - 7:00pm, and weekends: Friday – Sunday 7am – 8pm.
- Rotating holiday coverage as well as flexibility with scheduling will be necessary.
