About the role

At Chewy Vet Care, we're transforming the veterinary care experience. We believe in creating a workplace where veterinary teams can thrive every day. Our new veterinary practices are launching in early 2024, and we're seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our Healthcare Practice Team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve to support the practice team, setting the standard for high-quality veterinary support care and embodying the Chewy Vet Care culture.
  • Implement and follow the practice’s policies and procedures, using integrated technology, and delivering consistent and appropriate medical care.
  • Assist with veterinary assistant tasks, including operating medical equipment, handling animal bodily fluids and tissues, and supporting veterinarians.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members and veterinarians, ensuring timely updates on patient statuses.
  • Manage client invoices and payments, and assist with inventory needs as directed by the practice manager.
  • Clean workspaces after each patient interaction and participate in self-improvement courses.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited veterinary assistant program is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete the veterinary assistant skills checklist.
  • 0-2 years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in practice.
  • Experience in veterinary medicine.
  • A passion for helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, observational, and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Job Requirements

  • Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
  • Frequently lift up to 50 to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
  • Occasionally lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift.
  • Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.

Pay

The hourly range for this role is $16.10 - $24.27. The specific hourly range offered to a candidate may be influenced by various factors including experience, education, and work location.

Schedule
