Veterinary Assistant - Emergency

About the role

VCA Becker Animal Hospital and Pet Resort Team is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant for their Emergency department. Located at 6515 West IH 10, San Antonio, TX, 78201, the schedule is a 4-day work week with 10-hour shifts. The pay range is $16.00-$17.00 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Supports the veterinarian and technician teams by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for clients and patients.
• Assists with physical examinations and patient assessments.
• Maintains anesthesia monitoring equipment.
• Prepares and assists during surgical procedures.
• Assists with dental procedures.
• Performs radiology and laboratory work.
• Catheterizes and performs venipuncture as needed.
• Administers medications and monitors patient recovery.
• Ensures compassionate care for hospitalized animals.
• Manages pharmacy duties.
• Handles administrative tasks as necessary.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience as a veterinary assistant preferred. Must be able to pass a background check.
