About the role

The Veterans Home RN is an important and valuable member of the South Dakota Veterans Home team. They provide professional nursing services that require the application of basic nursing principles, practices, and techniques following established healthcare procedures and standards.

Responsibilities

• Taking care of America’s Heroes by providing nursing services in a long-term care setting.
• Focusing on the healthcare of individuals within a patient care environment.
• Operating in an environment where the focus is on the healthcare of individuals.

Requirements

• Licensed and able to work as a registered nurse in South Dakota.
• Associate degree, bachelor degree, or 3-year diploma in nursing.
• New graduates welcome.
• On-the-job training is available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practices.
• Recent development in the field of professional nursing applicable to the area of assignment.
• Ability to keep records, follow instructions, operate a variety of medical equipment, make reports on observations, apply general nursing techniques and practices, maintain a helpful and sympathetic attitude toward patients, communicate effectively, and deal effectively with patients and staff.

Pay

• $33.79 - $39.63 per hour, depending on experience.
• Plus $1.00 per hour shift pay for PM shift.
• Plus $1.50 per hour weekend pay.

Schedule

• Full-time position with the Department of Veterans Affairs Michael J Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home.
