About the role

This position supports the flow of material through the Drying process and may flex to other roles as needed. Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tasks are part of every position in the mill and may require mandatory overtime for completion. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Feed the dryer per standard work to prevent plug-ups.
  • Grade veneer properly and stack it neatly for full utilization and proper panel construction.
  • Remove trash from loads on dryer stackers.
  • Maintain a clean work area to minimize fire hazards.
  • Follow written and verbal job instructions, provide feedback, and apply critical thinking.
  • Work in various roles, including machine operation, material handling, grading, quality checks, and clean-up.

Safety Requirements

  • Exposed to moving chains, sprockets, and belts; keep hands clear of unguarded nip points and report incidents immediately.
  • Complete Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) training.
  • Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and appropriate gloves at all times.
  • Lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Use personal safety equipment in a manufacturing environment with moving machinery, forklift traffic, and varying work conditions.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Entry-level computer skills, including experience with auto grading systems.
  • Ability to work from detailed instructions and make minor decisions.
  • Capable of continuous mental and visual attention, often in short, repetitive cycles.
  • Experience handling lightweight materials, with occasional moderate-weight materials.
  • Ability to rotate between different job duties in a manufacturing setting.
