VCUarts Adjunct Instructor - Department of Theatre and Dance -- Theatre Programs

About the Role

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) Department of Theatre and Dance is recruiting a pool of applicants on an ongoing basis for possible adjunct teaching positions in their theatre programs. The department will consult this adjunct applicant pool and contact qualified applicants whose credentials match specific teaching needs as opportunities arise. This pool will only be assessed when an adjunct opportunity becomes available.

Possible adjunct opportunities could include teaching a course(s) in any of the areas of study offered by the Department of Theatre and Dance. Course descriptions can be found in VCU’s Undergraduate Bulletin.

If an opportunity becomes available, only those selected for an interview will be contacted. Adjunct faculty are expected to be enthusiastic ambassadors for the Department of Theatre and Dance and have a desire to work with a diverse student population in a collaborative and learning-centered community.

Requirements

  • Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students from various backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
  • Terminal degree (MFA) in a related field or a BFA with equivalent professional experience and training that equates to a terminal degree in the field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas of expertise in performance, or technical theatre and design.
