VCUarts Adjunct Instructor - Department of Dance and Choregraphy

About the role

The Department of Dance + Choreography at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts (VCUarts) is recruiting a pool of applicants for potential adjunct teaching positions. The pool will be consulted when specific teaching needs arise.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in Ballet, Modern, Hip Hop, Ballroom, Yoga, Screen Dance, Composition, Choreography, and other relevant areas as needed.
• Work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with a diverse student population.
• Teach in both in-person and online formats as required.
• Recruit as needed, assist with semesterly assessments, and support the department’s vision and student growth.

Requirements

• Appropriate teaching experience and/or strong oral presentation and communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering an inclusive environment.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in one or more areas of expertise in Dance, Choreography, or related fields.
• A Master's degree in Dance, Choreography, or a related field, or a BFA with equivalent professional experience and training that equates to a terminal degree.

• Willingness to teach in both in-person and online formats.
• Willingness to recruit as needed, assist with semesterly assessments, and support the Dance and Choreography department’s vision and student growth.

• Proficiency in teaching various dance styles and choreographic techniques.
