About the role

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Flight Simulation Trainer 5 to serve as a Variable Air Threat Simulator (VATS) Fighter Subject Matter Expert (SME) as a member of the Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis, AFB, NV. The individual’s primary responsibility would be to operate the VATS simulator from the cockpit and/or console to support the USAF Weapons School, operational test units, and deployed combat squadrons. The individual may also be tasked to provide subject matter expertise in mission planning, simulator academics, and operating debrief tools. This will require coordination with unit Weapons Officer/Instructor Pilots (IPs) to present realistic air picture to achieve mission training objectives. This role is open to Full-time and Part-time opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate simulation cockpits and/or console to represent synthetic threat fighter aircraft capabilities and replication. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
    • Operate VATS fighter simulator cockpit controls that include digital cockpit displays, stick & throttle, advanced sensor integration and fusion, as well as multi-aircraft formations and tactical employment.
    • When required, act as Mission Director or Red Czar depending on scenario.
    • Operate the simulator console and debriefing system during and after missions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise regarding threat air tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) during the planning and execution of JITTC-N operations.
  • Support the development, coordination, and integration of JITTC-N events to maximize training.
  • Orchestrate scenarios and constructive inputs for training events.
  • Create and modify mission-planning materials/academics to ensure participants achieve maximum training.
  • Provide instructor level expertise to help shape tactical training for participants.
  • Report issues related to stimulation software applications and provide basic troubleshooting support.
  • Lead small teams to achieve desired customer requirements.

Requirements

  • 15+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19+ years relevant experience.
  • Current or previous military fighter pilot.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required.
  • Must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible schedule training operations.
  • Must have had an active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI clearance with relevant SAP/SAR clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fifth generation fighter aircraft and system experience.
  • Weapons School graduate.
  • Aggressor pilot experience.
  • Current or previous Instructor Pilot or Flight Evaluator.
  • Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE).
  • Experience with NGTS.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $128,992.00 - $208,000.00.
