Part-Time Air Threat Simulator Pilot (VATS) SME - 29851

About the role

Mission Technologies, a division of HII, is seeking a Part-Time Flight Simulation Trainer 5 to serve as a Variable Air Threat Simulator (VATS) Fighter Subject Matter Expert (SME) as a member of the Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis, AFB, NV.

Responsibilities

• Operate the VATS simulator from the cockpit and/or console to support of the USAF Weapons School, operational test units, and deployed combat squadrons.
• Duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Operating VATS fighter simulator cockpit controls that include digital cockpit displays, stick & throttle, advanced sensor integration and fusion, as well as multi-aircraft formations and tactical employment.
• When required, act as Mission Director or Red Czar depending on scenario.
• Operating the simulator console and debriefing system during and after missions.
• Providing subject matter expertise regarding threat air tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) during the planning and execution of JITTC-N operations.
• Supporting the development, coordination, and integration of JITTC-N events to maximize training.
• Orchestrating scenarios and constructive inputs for training events.
• Creating and modifying mission-planning materials/academics to ensure participants achieve maximum training.
• Providing instructor level expertise to help shape tactical training for participants.
• Reporting issues related to stimulation software applications and providing basic trouble shooting support.
• Leading small teams to achieve desired customer requirements.

Requirements

• 15+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19+ years relevant experience.
• Current or previous military fighter pilot.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Requirements

• Fifth generation fighter aircraft and system experience.
• Weapons School graduate.
• Agressor pilot experience.
• Current or previous Instructor Pilot or Flight Evaluator.
• Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE).
• Experience with NGTS.

Pay

The anticipated salary range for this role is $128,992.00 - $208,000.00.

Schedule

Position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required. Must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible schedule training operations.
