F-22/35 Variable Air Threat Simulator (VATS) (SkillBridge Intern) - 26101
About the role
This is an UNPAID internship through the DoD Skillbridge Program for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. DoD Skillbridge Internships are available to help transitioning active-duty military personnel gain real-world experience in the work force sometime during their final 180 days of active-duty service. The intern will actively train on meaningful projects and work closely with a mentor and with senior company leadership. HII Mission Technologies Internship programs are focused on placing transitioning military into internships that require KSAs, Education & Military Training similar to their current or previous military jobs; positions that could easily transition over to a full-time regular and permanent job with HII.
Responsibilities
- Train as a VATS Simulator Instructor Pilot (IP) / Weapon Systems Operator (WSO)
- Report to HII-Mission Technologies designated supervisor
- Learn Mission Training Center (MTC) operations to include: mission planning, mission operations and system debrief operations
- Develop mission scenarios in coordination with customer requirements
- Operate and troubleshoot missions
- Operate debrief system and assist local customer mission debrief analysis
- Develop an understanding of VATS MTC technical documentation and development of Site Issue Reports (SIR) for maintenance and operation deficiencies
Requirements
- Current or previous military fighter pilot with 15+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19+ years relevant experience
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Work Environment: Position is not eligible for remote work; on-site support is required. Must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible schedule training operations
- Current/active TS/SCI clearance with relevant SAP/SAR read-ons required
