Vasudevan Lab - Junior, Assistant, Associate, or Full Specialist
About the role
A Junior through Full Specialist position is available for a highly motivated scientist at the University of California, San Francisco in the laboratory of Dr. Harish Vasudevan in the Departments of Radiation Oncology and Neurological Surgery. Research in the Vasudevan laboratory makes use of molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, mouse genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, pharmacology, and multidisciplinary collaborations to gain new insights into the molecular determinants of human malignancies with an emphasis on growth factor signaling and neurofibromatosis. Our team is comprised of biologists, computational scientists, and physician-scientists working together to advance understanding of cancer biology and improve patient outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Perform in vitro cell culture assays
- qRT-PCR
- Molecular biology cloning
- CRISPR gene editing
- Biochemistry
- Next generation sequencing assays including single cell genomics
- Cell and tissue sample preparation for genomic and biochemical assays
Requirements
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Initiative to work independently and efficiently is expected
- Enthusiasm for scientific discovery and translational medicine
- Willingness to work as part of a team-based scientific program
Qualifications
- Junior Specialist: Baccalaureate degree or at least four years of research experience
- Assistant Specialist: Master’s degree or Baccalaureate degree with 3 or more years of research experience
- Associate Specialist: Master’s degree or equivalent degree or five to ten years of experience in the relevant specialization
- Full Specialist: Terminal degree or equivalent degree or ten or more years of experience in the relevant specialization
Skills
- Effective use of laboratory instruments and their maintenance
- Knowledge of biomedical and biotechnological techniques and methodologies
- Working knowledge in tissue culture and basic molecular biology (including immunoblotting, cloning, viral transduction methods, PCR, and immunofluorescence)
Pay
A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000-$194,800.
