Junior or Assistant Specialist- Cho/Cheng Lab

About the role

The Raymond Cho/Jeffrey Cheng UCSF Dermatology lab is actively seeking a highly motivated research specialist at the junior or assistant level. Our laboratory focuses on developing precision medicine approaches to improve treatment of inflammatory skin disease. We study human and mouse model inflammatory skin diseases on the single-cell level (single cell RNA-sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and highly multiplexed immunofluorescence) to further molecular classification and treatment response prediction.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and receive authorship in scientific articles
• Contribute to the intellectual environment of the laboratory
• Support and manage the lab
• Plan, conduct, and oversee experiments
• Independently develop and optimize experimental protocols
• Interpret data and results

Requirements

• Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.
• Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master’s degree or a baccalaureate degree with three or more years of research experience.
• 1.5 year commitment to working in the lab.
• Excellent organizational and written/oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Attention to detail and accurate record keeping
• Ability to work well independently and collaboratively with other lab members

Qualifications

• Expertise in immunology assays (such as flow cytometry, stimulation assays, ELISA)
• Experience with computer programming/bioinformatics

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous research experience of at least 6 months

Salary and Rank

Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicants experience and training. A reasonable estimate for this position is $55,000 - $70,700.
