Job Description
As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will work collaboratively with our customer's clinical team to resolve venous access issues to facilitate the treatment objectives of the treating physician. You may work inside or outside the hospital setting depending on each individual referral, providing you with a unique career opportunity to observe different treatment protocols and patient challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Place PICCs, midlines and peripheral IVs with ultrasound and use ECG confirmation.
- Aid in the management of PICCs and Vascular Access devices.
- Provide a wide range of vascular access support services including but not limited to port access, removal of lines, declotting, etc.
- Educate facility nursing staff regarding PICCs, midlines and many other CVAD's
Training and Experience Requirements
- Ideal candidates are experienced in both ultrasound guided IV (USGIV) placements and vascular access device (VAD) insertions.
- Training available in some locations for candidates with recent, consistent USGIV placement experience.
- Priority given to fully trained vascular access nurses, but additional training available for those with strong USGIV skills.
Nurse Consultant Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current license.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in acute care preferred.
- American Heart BLS Certification.
- Experience placing ultrasound-guided IVs.
- Experience with other vascular access device (VAD) placements using ultrasound.
- Experience in vascular access device management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently.
- Fulfill scheduling requirements as indicated by job classification.
- Possess a current and valid driver's license and auto insurance.
- Possess a smart phone.
- Access to reliable transportation for travel to patient sites.
