About the Role

As a ghostwriter and book collaborator, Judy works on select projects that excite her, providing hands-on service at every stage of publishing—from writing and editing to design, trade or self-publishing, and marketing/PR. She focuses on helping authors achieve specific goals, such as attracting higher-paying clients, securing paid keynote speeches, building bigger brands, or leaving a legacy.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with authors to write and refine book manuscripts or proposals.
• Guide authors through the publishing process, whether traditional or self-publishing.
• Develop and execute marketing and PR strategies to promote books.
• Connect authors with literary agents and publishers when pursuing traditional publishing.
• Provide personalized attention to each project, ensuring alignment with the author’s goals.

Qualifications

• Award-winning writer with extensive experience in magazine articles, speeches, blogs, brochures, and promotional materials.
• Proven track record of successful book projects, including New York Times bestsellers and media recognition.
• Background in PR, including roles at Madison Square Garden, New York March of Dimes, and the National MS Society.
• Membership in professional organizations such as the Author’s Guild, PEN America, and Mensa.
• Ability to match authors with alternative ghostwriters if their budget does not align with her fees.

Pay

Fees start at $50,000 and can range up to $75,000–$100,000 for larger book projects. Judy does not work for back-end profits (e.g., royalties or revenue shares) and instead charges upfront for her services.
