Your work will directly impact millions of children and families worldwide, making learning a fun and rewarding journey.

The ideal candidate will be action-oriented, proactive, and deeply empathetic to young users’ needs, with a strong portfolio demonstrating experience in casual game design, UX, and live-service product development.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in game design, UX design, or a hybrid role, with a proven track record of shipped titles or products.
  • Extensive experience designing casual mobile games, with a solid understanding of engagement loops, progression systems, and player motivation.
  • Proficiency in Figma for creating UX flows, wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design specifications.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and optimize game economy and metagame systems.
  • Experience delivering live-service content and iterating on features based on user data and feedback.
  • Comfort working with product analytics, interpreting dashboards, and using metrics to inform design decisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, art, and education.
  • Action-oriented mindset with a producer approach, capable of driving projects from conception to launch.
  • Deep empathy and passion for creating age-appropriate, accessible, and delightful experiences for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end design of new game features and improvements to existing games, from initial concept through launch and ongoing live-service updates.
  • Create high-quality UX flows, wireframes, prototypes, and visual specifications in Figma, ensuring clear communication of design intent to engineering and product teams.
  • Design and balance complex game systems, including metagame mechanics and economy structures that motivate and reward young learners effectively.
  • Utilize product data, user research, and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for enhancement and validate design choices.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, engineers, educators, and artists to bring innovative features from concept to shipped product.
  • Advocate for the end user—children aged 2–10 and their parents—by ensuring experiences are age-appropriate, accessible, and engaging.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the ABCmouse product, user base, and competitive landscape to proactively identify improvement opportunities.
  • Leverage AI tools such as Claude, Sc, or similar to accelerate design exploration, prototyping workflows, and high-quality launches.
  • Partner with data teams to analyze metrics, interpret user engagement, and inform ongoing feature refinement and live-service decisions.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of design system standards and best practices for game design within the ABCmouse platform and AI workflows.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary range of $140,000 - $165,000 USD, commensurate with experience and skills.
  • Comprehensive health and welfare benefits, with 91% of employee premiums and 70% of dependent premiums covered by the company.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Paid time off including 15 vacation days (increasing to 20 days on third anniversary), 12 national holidays, and 9 sick days annually.
  • Paid volunteer hours totaling 16 per year.
  • Company-wide year-end closure with 7 paid days, including 3 observed holidays.
