UX Design Lead

About the role
As a User Experience Design Lead for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Urbandale, Iowa, you will lead UX Design for Advanced Guidance products, which are foundational experiences enabling highly automated and autonomous John Deere equipment to navigate fields, steer, control speed, and perform work, with minimal user intervention.
You will collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering team members to deliver a best-in-class user experience to John Deere customers. You will plan, coordinate, and perform UX design activities for a variety of projects.
- Be responsible for feature definition, system-level experience design, and interaction design.
- Collaborate closely with Design Systems and UX Designers for other products.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, software development, marketing, and business leaders.
- Communicate research methodology, design concepts, data analysis, and test results to a broad range of stakeholders.
- Apply User-Centered Design principles to complex interface problems.
- Utilize UX metrics and a user-centered design process to provide insights to product engineering groups.
- Apply design principles in terms of user flows, accessibility, visual hierarchy, and brand influence.
- Use prototyping, user flows, storyboards, and existing research to provide insights ahead of high-fidelity design delivery.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of experience planning, executing, and analyzing UX/UI design projects.
- 5 or more years of visual interface design, as applied to web and mobile formats.
- 5 or more years of experience applying User-Centered Design principles to complex interface problems.
- 5 or more years of experience working with cross-functional teams.
- 2 or more years of experience communicating research methodology, design concepts, data analysis, and test results to stakeholders.
- 2 or more years of experience with technology and product development processes.
- 2 or more years of experience working in agriculture.
- 2 or more years of experience working on automation and/or autonomy products.
- A portfolio of relevant UX design work that highlights your approach to UX problem solving, storytelling, and product design.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and an ability to lead conversations and direct work for others.
Qualifications
Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Master's or Ph.D. preferred.
Skills
- Demonstrated ability to champion end-user experience and influence digital product designs across product areas.
- Demonstrated experience in product discovery, design research, and concept validation to inform experience definition and design concepts.
- Demonstrated skill in managing multiple functional area interests to optimize solutions.
- Experience using UX metrics and a user-centered design process to provide insights to product engineering groups.
- Experience applying design principles in terms of user flows, accessibility, visual hierarchy, and brand influence.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize prototyping, user flows, storyboards, and/or existing research to provide insights ahead of high-fidelity design delivery.
