Responsibilities

  • Fills in for employees during breaks and any type of absence while maintaining the continuing quality of the plant operation.
  • Fully operates all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
  • Records downtime, can loss, lot numbers, temperature, and other report documentation.
  • Ensures all areas are cleaned to standard and performs weekly sanitation.
  • Participates as a member of the team, including ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
  • Coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members and attends appropriate team meetings.
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
  • Identifies areas lacking cohesiveness, brings them to the attention of the team leader, and works to resolve issues.
  • Reinforces actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
  • Adheres to Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies) and understands the role in supporting these systems.
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including walking up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, and hair net.
  • Background in manufacturing.
  • Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
  • Strong communication skills and decision-making ability.
  • Highly responsive and able to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.

Qualifications

  • May be required to obtain and maintain a company-issued forklift license.
  • Military experience valued and welcomed.
