About the Role
This position supports the Production or Packaging portion of the Pet Food business, focusing on maintaining plant operations and quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Fill in for employees during breaks and absences while maintaining plant operation quality.
- Fully operate all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
- Record downtime, can loss, lot numbers, temperatures, and other report documentation.
- Ensure all areas are cleaned to standard and perform weekly sanitation.
- Participate as a team member in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members and attend team meetings.
- Foster strong team cohesiveness on major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
- Identify and address areas lacking cohesiveness, bringing them to the team leader’s attention and working toward resolution.
- Reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
- Adhere to Simmons' operating systems principles and objectives, maintaining familiarity with company policies and systems.
- Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including walking up and down stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, and hair net.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Strong communication skills and decision-making ability.
- Highly responsive to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.
- Background in manufacturing.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a company-issued forklift license.
