Responsibilities
- Fills in for employees during breaks and any type of absence while maintaining the continuing quality of the plant operation.
- Fully operates all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
- Records downtime, can loss, lot numbers, temperature, and other report documentation.
- Ensures all areas are cleaned to standard and performs weekly sanitation.
- Participates as a member of the team, including ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
- Coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members and attends appropriate team meetings.
- Fosters strong team cohesiveness regarding major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
- Identifies areas lacking cohesiveness, brings them to the attention of the team leader, and works to resolve issues.
- Reinforces actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
- Supports Simmons’ operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies) and understands the role in maintaining these systems.
- Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including walking up and down stairs.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, ear plugs, and hair net.
- Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
- Background in manufacturing.
- May be required to obtain and maintain a company-issued forklift license.
