Utility Production (Can Line 3) EM; Wed 12:30pm-6:30pm, Thurs-Sat 6:30am-6:30pm

About the role

This position supports the Production or Packaging portion of the Pet Food business by filling in for employees during breaks and absences while maintaining the continuing quality of the plant operation.

Responsibilities

• Fully operates all necessary equipment in the assigned area.
• Records downtime, can loss, lot numbers, temperature, and any other report documentation.
• Ensures all areas are cleaned to standard.
• Performs weekly sanitation.
• Participates as a member of the Team, including ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
• Coordinates work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
• Attends appropriate team meetings.
• Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues (direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.).
• Quickly identifies any areas that lack cohesiveness, brings them to the attention of the team leader, and works with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
• Actively looks for ways and reinforces actions needed to achieve synergy within the larger organization.
• Maintains familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies) and understands this position's role in support of these systems, including consideration of individual actions' impact and responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
• Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Physical activities

• Regularly required to stand and walk.
• Ability to walk up and down stairs.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Personal protective equipment (PPE)

• Safety glasses, steel toed shoes, ear plugs, hair net.

Requirements

• Must be able to read, write and understand English.
• May be required to obtain and maintain company issued forklift license.
• Background in manufacturing.
